All About 2008 Easter!
The holiday of Easter is always held on a Sunday and will fall on a day sometimes between late March and late April. This is a Christian holiday, which celebrates the resurrection of Christ. In the Christianity, this day holiday is held in remembrance of when Jesus Christ was resurrected back to life after he was crucified on the cross. Strong Christian believers will begin the day by attending church services.
This day is also celebrated by people of many different faiths and has certain elements that most families follow. Most often, friends and family will get together to celebrate the day with a grand dinner. The most popular food that is served on this day is an Easter ham. It is a great tradition in a lot of households. Alternatively, lamb is served. Some families do not abide by restrictions of traditions and will create their own, serving food that the family most enjoys. A fun part of the day revolves around events for children. Easter egg hunts are popular.
This is an event in which colorful eggs are hidden, usually outside if weather permits, and the children are usually given Easter baskets. They will scamper around in search of the eggs. In addition, children are often given Easter basket as presents. Inside the baskets are usually treats of Easter Bunny chocolate, which is a large piece of chocolate shaped into the form of a bunny. Other treats include small plastic eggs in a variety of colors and they hold small pieces of candy. No matter how a family chooses to celebrate this holiday, the important element is that they spend it together and enjoy each other's company.
