Easter Sunday

Easter is among the principal Christians holidays and everybody is looking forward for its coming. A lot of traditions are connected with the marking of Easter and the most important one is that the celebration occurs always on Sunday. The holiday is celebrated in honor of the revival of Christ. There is also such an important day as Good Friday as the Christians think Jesus to die on the cross, be buried on a Good Friday and revive on a Sunday.

The holiday always occurs  on a spring Sunday, when the moon is full. This is the reason the date of Easter is not the same every year, but everybody waits for the festival with great anticipation.

Any Sunday from March 22 to April 25 can appear to be Easter. It is considered that in old times the Christians celebrated Easter on every Sunday with particular actions such as reading scriptures, psalms and kneel down to offer prayers. One day a year was chosen to mark the resurrection. Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor at that time, wanted Christ to be crucified. It was Sunday, three days later, that Christ arose from death.

After Jesus had died, several men took him from the cross and place his body into a cave, covered with some piece of cloth, and the hole into the cave as closed by a big rock. And when three days had passed it was a great surprise for them that the rock changed its place. And then there appeared a message from god on the resurrection of Christ. This is at the bottom of the marking Easter on Sunday.

The Roman Catholics consider Easter a holiday to commemorate the resurrection of Christ. They are sure that Jesus returned to life after three days from the Good Friday. When people returned to the cave to remove his body he wasn’t there. An angel brought a message that Christ revived from death.

Easter is connected with many tokens such as Easter eggs, cross, lily and the Easter bunny. All people know they are to use Easter eggs and bunnies to manufacture hand-made articles to present to their relatives, but many of us don’t do much to learn more about the beginning and development of Easter tokens.

The Easter history of token is grippingly interesting and could widen your horizon. So take a book and read more about those old events. The Easter bunnies are thought to be the most favorite tokens of the holiday. Everybody knows they appeared in pagan times and is connected with fecundity and beginning new life.

The Anglo Saxon goddess of spring called Eostre was always accompanied by a rabbit. So now it   personifies Easter. We can understand at present what is at the bottom of the tradition to produce sweetmeats and cakes in the form of bunnies and why they are the most popular tokens of the Easter basket.
