Easter Symbols


Easter holiday approaching, there appear here and there different tokens of the festival. The list of Easter tokens is rather long including a great number of such things as Easter eggs, nice small bunny rabbits, tasty hot cross rolls, splendid white lilies, holy Easter cross, etc. Each token of Easter has its own meaning, some of them signify purity, others show the renewal of life.

- Easter Cross: Easter cross is very important for the Christians all over the world. A cross symbolizes the murder of Jesus Christ and means that nobody should forget the blood that Jesus had shed in redemption of the sins of all people. This holy token signifies faith. A hollow Easter token cross, on the other hand, signifies the rising from dead of Lord Jesus tat represents the victory of kindness over harm and life over death. So the token of Easter, cross both of crucifixion and resurrection. So it has double meaning of offering and the token of new life.  

- Easter Eggs: The most important tokens of Easter are Easter eggs that symbolize fecundity. During some day before Coming Easter people are occupied by decorating eggs trying they be the most beautiful. Actually at that time there are sold a huge number of different things necessary for adornment of eggs.

- Easter Bunnies: As we only begin to feel the approaching of our favorite season everybody is looking forward for coming Easter festival. The main subjects of the Easter talks are surely Easter bunny and Easter eggs. Many people don't know when and how Easter bunny appeared for the first time. Easter bunny is a token connected with fecundity and the main cause is that it has a fast and big posterity.

- Easter Lilies: Easter lily is a token connected with maternity. Big white flower means cleanness and hope. There are a lot of old myths concerning Easter lily. You can beautify your house with these splendid flowers, but they have a deep meaning as well. The Roman legends say that white lily is connected with the greatest goddess named Juno. It happened when queen Juno was feeding her little child Hercules, there was some  milk that dropped from the sky. The portion of it that distributed over the earth caused the building up of Milky Way, and where other drops fell on the ground appeared wonderful white flowers, called lilies. But the Greek myths tell it was their queen goddess Hera, the goddess of heaven, whose milk became the reason of appearance of those magnificent presents of the earth.

Other token of Easter are candles, hot cross rolls, etc. Easter candles, particularly the Paschal candles burn on the Easter day. They represent the light of God. Hot cross rolls are very important on the table. Everybody considered them the means to keep away any harm. So all the tokens of Easter are meaningful from the point of view of religion and communicate important messages.
